What to Expect
Scottish country dancing is the traditional ballroom dancing of Scotland, usually danced in sets of three to four couples. It is not highland dancing.
Scottish country dancing typically consists of a series of patterns that you, your partner, and the other dancers in your set complete. Dancers move through and to different positions as they perform each dance. The series of patterns is then repeated until each couple dances from every position.
Although you dance with a partner, you don’t need to attend with one. You are encouraged to dance with a new partner for each dance, so if you do bring someone, be prepared to share!
No prior dance experience is necessary. Wear soft-soled shoes and plan to have a good time. Dance with us – you don’t have to be Scottish or Royal!
