Winter 2025 Classes are Now in session

Classes for 2024-25 take place every Thursday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Beginners are always welcome.  No partners are needed.

Park in the church parking lot.  We dance in the gym on the first floor.                                                                                         

When class must be cancelled due to inclement weather or an unforeseeable event, members will be notified by email asap, sometimes late in the day.  A cancellation notice will be posted on this website and on our Facebook page.     

                   

On Mondays The Tartan and Thistle Ann Arbor Scottish Country Dancers hold classes from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the sanctuary at Genesis of Ann Arbor, 2309 Packard Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. For more information visit:  Ann Arbor Scottish Country Dancing                  

                         

COVID-19 Policy: Current protocols do not require COVID screening or proof of vaccination. Masks are optional and we do ask that you refrain from attending if you are feeling unwell. Take care, stay well and follow the guidelines from public health officials.

We closed out the month with a farewell to Flowers of Edinburgh (R8x32) 3C (4C set) and learned several new dances including Muse Cottage (S3x32) 3C set, Chasing the Eclipse (S3x32) 3C, and Bridge Over Troubled Water (32 bar jig for 3 dancers). We also enjoyed practicing Sunshine and Sweetie’s Jig (J8x32) 3C (4C set) and Sharon’s Strathspey (S8x32) 2C (4C set).

This week we continued to master MacDonald of the Isles (S3x32) 3C set and Flowers of Edinburgh (R8x32) 3C (4C set).  We revisited an old favorite, The Deil Amang the Tailors (R8x32) 3C (4C set) and practiced Shiftin’ Bobbins (R8x32) 3C (4C set) and The Royal Deeside Railway (R8x32) 3C (4C set).

January 9, 2025

We returned from a long holiday break ready for the new year! This month we are focusing on Flowers of Edinburgh (R8x32) 3C (4C set) as our dance of the month and worked to perfect the poussette. We also danced Sunshine and Sweetie’s Jig (J8x32) 3C (4C set), MacDonald of the Isles (S3x32) 3C set, The Reel of the 51st Division R8x32) 3C (4C set) and City of Belfast (S3x32) 3C set.

Rscds windsor tea Dance – sunday, March 2, 2025

RSCDS Windsor is hosting a Tea Dance from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the Scottish Club on Sunday, March 2. The cost to attend is $10 per person ($5 for non-dancers or those doing only two or three dances) and a light lunch will be served at 4:00 pm. Stoney Lake Weekend – May 23-25, 2025

The Peterborough Scottish Country Dance Society will once again host its very popular Stoney Lake Weekend on May 23—25, 2025.  This will be the 38th year for the event! The guest teacher will be Duncan Keppie from Wolfville, Nova Scotia accompanied by his daughter Ailsa. Dancing will be at the historic Upper Stoney Lake pavilion, a five-minute drive from Pine Vista resort.
